Salem's Values
What do we stand for? Salem is based on 6 values:
- Outreach: Encourage others to join in God's mission.
- Salem plays an active role in the local community. You might find a youth basketball team in the gym or children in the classrooms for homeschool enrichment courses. We also reach out through CEAP, a coalition of churches working together to provide basic services to people in need. You are invited to participate in any of Salem's activities. Plan to attend a welcome reception to learn more about the church and how you can join in God's role here.
- Community: Express love and commitment to God's people.
- The Salem community cherishes people of all ages. Playtime in the nursery, adult small group meetings, and senior adult outings all strengthen relationships. Our Stephen Ministry program provides one-to-one care, and we support each other through prayer.
- Missions: Extend our participation in God's world.
- Worldwide missions have always been an important part of Salem. Financially and through prayer, we regularly support missionaries. We contribute to special projects, such as building clean-water systems in the Domincan Republic or sending clothing to Filipino orphans. You can even participate in God's world by taking part in a short-term missions trip.
- Worship: Explore the heights of God's glory.
- Draw closer to God through Sunday morning worship at Salem. Whether you prefer the hymns, readings, and choir anthems of the traditional service, or the worship songs of the contemporary service, you'll have the opportunity to experience the life-changing message and presence of Jesus Christ.
- Service: Employ our best abilities in God's work.
- Service is the common thread which runs through the fabric of the Salem community. Every program, every class, every worship experience is possible because people are using their unique strengths to serve Salem, our local community, and our world. Whatever your interests and skills, you'll find a place to use them at Salem.
- Spiritual Growth: Exemplify a life empowered by God's spirit.
- Are you just beginning to explore the Christian faith? Have you followed Jesus for decades? In either case, you'll find ways to grow at Salem. Relevant messages during Sunday morning worship, Sunday morning classes for 2-year olds through senior adults, midweek programs for children and teens, and regular Bible studies for women and men work to help you understand who God is. At a 10-week Alpha course, you'll be encouraged to ask all your questions, and you'll be inspired to learn more.
