Ministry Resources

What does Ministry Resources do?

The Ministry Resources Team is here to support the work of Salem by equipping people and ministries for works of service. Our goal is to assist every Salem attendee to find a place of service and help every ministry team to find staff and work more effectively.

We provide training called Network to help people discover their spiritual gifts, passion and personal style so they can serve in a place consistent with who God made them to be.

We also gather information regarding people and ministries into a custom database in order to supply needs as they arise—there are over 300 names in the system to date! The Ministry Resources team is assisting leaders in practicing volunteer appreciation by providing ideas and resources.

Finally, our team is available to evaluate and provide direction to help new ministries get off the ground and to help both new and existing ministries be efficient and effective.

What can I do?

Recently there was a study conducted that looked into people’s satisfaction level with their church. The study showed that people who had strong friendships and relationships within their church expressed a high satisfaction level with their church.

The key is creating a faith community that values friendship. One of the ways to build friendships is by volunteering and serving together. Jesus told people to be sure they were prepared to enter into a life of service before they made the decision to become his followers. In Luke 14, Jesus warned people to “count the cost” before becoming his followers. Rather than making it easy for people to become his followers, he actually drove people away who weren’t prepared to make the complete commitment he demanded.

There are many ways to serve at Salem! Take a peek at the Ministry Resources Handbook (pdf) for an idea of the variety of volunteer opportunities. To paraphrase a song, “If we are the body, let’s get these arms reaching, hands healing, hearts feeling. Yes, there is a way!”
